Before I get started with my post today, can you take a look at my brand spanking new blog design? Pretty awesome right?! I asked Hubby Jack to give me a little makeover. I'm loving the new look!!
Since this is my first post with my new design, I wanted to go over a very important topic here on Not Your Typical Jersey Girl....Jersey Girls!
As someone who was born and raised in the Garden State, I get sad at the awful portals of NJ on tv and movies. These stereotypes are absolutely not true....for the most part.
1. We are all Italians and are connected to the mob.
Yes, I am Italian, but as far as I know, my dad is not connected to the mob.
|Not exactly Tony Soprano|
2. We all have big hair and make the "duck face" when we take pictures.
Although I do like some volume in my hair (really, who doesn't?) I'll leave the poof to those other girls. And the kissy/duck face...ummmm did you just eat something sour? Why is this a thing?
I prefer normal sized hair with some curls and just a smile.
3. We are all orange from our fake tans...even in the middle of winter
It is the middle of February...I am not tan. Nor is orange a color you should turn when you do tan. This is not a good look:
Plus, I can only imagine that all that fake tanning will lead this girl, who would be pretty otherwise, to turn into this as she ages:
Nope, no thanks. I'll stick to sunscreen and self tanner that gives a natural glow. Oh, and my Nars' Laguna Bronzer. And I certainly be tan in the middle of winter.
Ok, so maybe I'll be a little tan in the middle of the summer.
4. We are all a part of the Real Housewives of NJ and are just like the cast of the Jersey Shore.
Wrong again! I don't know any of the housewives and I'm cool with it. I actually live in North Jersey and have been to many of the places they film on the show, but that's where the similarities end.
Ok, so sometimes people do tell me I look like Lauren Manzo from RHONJ, but that's where the similarities end.
5. We decorate our life in cheetah print.
Nope, my house and walls are pretty standards colors...sans cheetah print.
I think I could keep going with this list, but you get my point.
Hope you enjoyed my look into typical Jersey Girls. Make sure you grab my button. Let me know if you do, I'll add yours to my page!
